im cutting out coffee to see what happens. background - ~10y of 2 espresso a day (300mg caffeine). - i sleep fine, avg 7.5h a day - i love coffee & look forward to it. but... - i do get headaches - i often feel lethargic - hunch it prevents deep work, just accelerates rapid ctx switching. updating this thread daily

I did this for 2 months, cold turkey. My experience: - first two weeks were hell (bad withdrawal symptoms, loss of focus, sleep) - brain fog mostly recovered by week 3 - productivity back to baseline month 2 - deep realisation that you're disconnected from society that runs on a coffee schedule by end of month 2

did you run out of characters to list all the positive benefits that occured next?

overall experience was enlightening and helped me develop a better relationship with coffee - but I did go back to drinking it, now making a conscious choice continue main benefit: having consistent energy throughout the day, rather than 2 spikes. however the area under the curve was roughly the same.

I don’t want to discourage you - although tough, this was a profound experience. bigger alpha was cutting alcohol to 1ce per month or less. this is just pure upside.

thanks for sharing - i'd be okay with this outcome. would really break my heart if giving up coffee turned out to be overwhelmingly rational.
