on youtube there is gothamchess, he has a great library of openings the chess com premium is good for learning openings too, they'll explain why opening matters, what is the intent the idea is essentially that the board isn't flat, those 4 center squares are to be taken control as white (because you have starting advantage) control the center and use central pawns/pieces in center as hook to destroy enemy king black has to fight for not letting the center be taken for free and then other things (generally)

think of the board as a mountain and the top 4 squares are the peak of the hill and the adjacent so forth
