someone said to me once , "never comment on something about someone's appearance that they can't fix in 5 minutes" and that really stuck with me!

but yes agreed, it's a sign they don't know how to defend themselves without trying to disarm the other person with attacks unrelated to the core issues at hand

Golden rule: “never comment on someone's appearance if they can't fix it in five minutes."

That's right. I also put people like that in an uncomfortable position to make excuses and remember that you can't do that. We are all different and don't have to be someone else's standard.

I make a remark to such people. Let them be ashamed. Just yesterday, one woman at my aunt's birthday called my brother's wife ugly in a conversation with our mother. If I had heard this, I would have answered her very rudely.

In my environment, people often let me say horrible things about others. Have you seen how fat he is? I directly ask, aren't you fat, didn't he ask me to rate him? She says, well not like him 😔 It's so awful. And it's like this all the time.
