New: Collectibles! 

Support your favorite creators by collecting their casts onchain. Each cast can be turned into a unique, 1-of-1 collectible. Just tap the new "collect" icon on a cast to get started. 

Casts can be collected starting at $1. If there are multiple collectors, it goes to the highest bidder. Creators get 90% collectible earnings, and the remaining 10% goes to the protocol rewards. 

We’re excited about collectibles for a few reasons: 
1. Creators earn directly from their audience
2. New creators can earn on their first day
3. Users get to collect a unique piece of Farcaster history

Collectibles will go live tomorrow morning around 9am PT. We're announcing this early so people can be ready to collect their favorite casts when the feature is live!

We’ve seen this before, like Dorsey’s first tweet NFT: sold for $48M, then went to zero. A good reminder not to get too hyped 😂

no doubt I'm gonna bid on a few casts tmrw (side note: anyone have a genesis cast link handy?), but regardless, this circa 2020 tweet signed by @xcopy.eth will always be my favorite piece of onchain digital ephemera or "1/1 super tip receipt" to use the preferred parlance of the purple app lmao

This was definitely a very novel experiment back in 2020. we could call it early-stage. As the NFT hype faded, content NFTs naturally died off too, with basically zero liquidity. 

now some of projects are trying to merge with memecoins , which does bring more liquidity, but most of them still end up going to zero. 

but still, it's exciting to see all these different kinds of experimentation.

Tokenized tweets were probably a victim of their own success as well. The overall collection of minted tweets is quite large and hard to search especially for potentially valuable tweets like the xcopy signed tweets unless you know what youre looking for

But also the market back then shifted quickly to pfps a couple months after the dorsey sale so who knows if anything could have dramatically changed how things turned out market-wise for nft tweets

Still hold out hope a discerning collector or two will discover some of the novel onchain gems tucked into the frozen collection
