Being in crypto long enough there's good reason to doubt the idea of casts as Collectibles. It's been attempted several times but always by third parties, thus no true provenance, thus ripe for cringe moments like the attached image. Farcaster officially deploying the collectibles makes a big difference.

The bids, including winners, are all onchain as is the original tweet itself too including the wallet signature approving the sale by the original tweet author Agree that FC natively rolling this out makes a big difference too Excited to see historical casts get surfaced and to see what the communities on here ascribe value too (and how much)

I guess I meant to say what's stopping one third party from forking another third party and having a new auction for the same post? You could argue there's a decentralized aspect to that model and let the market could decide who the real authority is, but without the official support of Twitter it didn't feel real.
