this is irresponsible design, & a perfect example of how poor design decisions can cause real harm.

if a crowdfund doesnt reach its goal, the “donate anyway” button is hidden behind a big button that says “claim refund”.

how much money is sitting in escrow because donors didn’t click “claim refund”?

i received a notification that said “claim refund”, as someone who wanted to process my donation anyway, i couldn’t find the option to do so, i think the messaging could be more clear in the notification and the app could be designed to surface that “donate anyway” option a bit more.

apologies if my post came off as rude, i wasn’t directing my frustration toward you personally. i am a UX designer myself, and I just wanted to post an example in the /pain-points channel of how design can be unintentionally harmful. 

a friend lost their parent and they aren’t able to access the full funds we all sent to them in their time of need. i really feel for them because individually contacting each person and letting them know that they have to go through this extra step is just a really tough spot to be in while dealing with grief

we do this already via notifications and a red dot on the my donations tab. 

your initial message is very rude for no reason. please be more polite in future.

that’s good to hear! i think you guys could also communicate with current users about their funds being held in escrow, maybe a notification that says “you have [x amount of dollars] in limbo, click ‘claim refund’ to claim your funds or donate anyway”, something like that
