What is decentralized finance ?

Decentralized finance (DeFi) is a term for financial services that are built on blockchain technology, primarily on networks like Ethereum, and operate without traditional intermediaries such as banks, brokers, or centralized exchanges.

Unlike traditional finance (TradFi), where institutions control the infrastructure, DeFi uses smart contracts, self executing code on blockchainsto automate and enforce rules.

Anyone with an internet connection and a crypto wallet can participate in DeFi without credit checks, bank accounts, or IDs.

Greater transparency
Programmable and automated
Lower fees in some cases

Cons:
Smart contract bugs or exploits
Regulatory uncertainty
Volatility and systemic risks
Complex user experience

In 2022, the state opened crypto wallets and raised millions of dollars in DeFi for the army - directly through DAOs and smart contracts. And all this without banks.
