You’re not being laid off because of a bad economy.

You’re being automated during a good one.

This is a great point.  

There's a productivity boom happening before our eyes and that's why people can't reconcile the general malaise from labor vs. the ebullience of capital.

The problem with productivity booms is that the social contract unwinds.
