Have you ever fallen into this trap? 'It's just in your head/Just try harder/It shouldn't be that hard to overcome it.' Don't pretend to understand your loved one's mental disorder. It will diminish their self esteem. It will make them think that they should really be able to solve this, but they cannot, so they must really be worthless. They must be really bad at this. They do not deserve the right to feel better. -- Instead, acknowledge that it's like an Everest; not just to them but to you as well. Let them know this thing is scary for you too. By acknowledging your own vulnerability while also expressing determination to take on this challenge, you will invite your loved one to take part in this journey as an equal. #mentalhealth #depression #ocd #care #support
