Tyrese Haliburtons torn Achilles explained as easy as 1, 2, 3. ✍️ 1️⃣: he suffered a calf strain a couple games ago. Undoubtedly being treated with either NSAIDS, or possibily heavy duty steroids and/or painkillers like toradol. Hard to tell 2️⃣: the calf strain limits the ability for the muscle to produce, accept, and redistribute force. This causes the (Achilles) tendon to pick up way more slack than it’s used to. Then tack on the negative effect of NSAIDS & medications on connective tissue and we’ve got a fully loaded powder keg 3️⃣: he takes a false step with a dropped heel in order to accelerate, and boom. Pop goes the Achilles. Happening in 2q is a little earlier than you’d expect, but in either case not surprised at all. All criteria for a very serious Achilles injury were met and this is the same exact playbook that tore KD’s Achilles a few years ago. Sucks to see. I just hope he knew the risks of playing with that strain because all sports med pro’s saw this coming
