Microtransactions Drive the Economy, And I Just Now Got It
Most transactions in Kenya are small, a tuk-tuk ride is 70 KES, a chapati is 20 KES, matatu fares range from 50-100 KES.
These tiny payments fuel the economy, keeping money circulating fast.
Safaricom gets it, M-PESA transactions under 100 KES are free because they know microtransactions power commerce.
At the same time, @base makes on-chain transactions ultra-cheap, allowing USDC payments for fractions of a cent.
Element Pay bridges the two, leveraging Base’s efficiency and M-PESA’s simplicity, making USDC payments feel like mobile money, fast, seamless, and frictionless.
Instead of off-ramping on exchanges, users stay on-chain while keeping the ease of M-PESA.
Microtransactions aren’t just theory. They’re how economies in Africa function, and now, we can bring them on-chain without losing what works. 🚀
