Saw a YouTube video with the title that released this week that said “the rise / return of pirating” ￼😂😅

But on the real though there’s EVEN.biz and Bandcamp & Formless.xyz & Sound.xyz — the options to support exist! It’s just not a unified listening experience, and “intentional” music listeners are unfortunately a subcategory of the overall music consumer.

Yeah honestly hearing that the CEO is working on defense / military AI now makes me feel like they DGAF about artists & creativity lol.

It’s indicative of a business that emerged entirely for the sake of profit, nothing more.

I think it comes down to the fact that fans and artists have been conditioned to prioritize convenience over everything. Change doesn’t happen overnight, especially in an industry that’s been monopolized. But nothing changes if nothing changes. You’ve got to start  asomewherend keep applying pressure. We need to shift our mindset toward building experiences and creating art that make Spotify and the big labels want to work with us, not the other way around. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s better than sitting back and letting Spotify act like they’re untouchable

It’s the same playbook: offer something appealing, get everyone hooked, then do whatever you want. Look at Netflix, they keep raising prices because they know people have been conditioned to think there’s no better option. The same thing is happening with AI companies, from OpenAI to Cursor

1000%. It’s unfortunate too, but honestly they keep it up for much longer & they’ll completely write themselves out of existence.

That's what happens when you shit on your artists/fans/users. Spotify and these other companies are not aligned with creators. They are extractors first imo
