so much respect for this take. i’m slowly weaning off a vape addiction that’s rooted deep in trauma response, and reading your words stirred something tender in me.

the way you honor your breath? it reminded me that mine is still worthy of reverence, even if it’s shaky. even if it’s healing.

sometimes i forget my lungs are allowed to be loved, not just endured. thank you for saying what you did. it landed gently, but deeply.

Probably both tbh. It likely has more to do with how they function & affect my breathing — I always feel restricted & cannot breathe as deeply for several days after being amidst the second hand smoke of vapes.

The second hand aspect of it. I can feel when it restricts my breathing & it has long term persistence. It usually takes me a couple days before I feel like I can breathe as deeply.

They talk about them having forever metals that stick to your lungs, and I just don’t like the idea of being subject to that in a second hand manner. It’d be one thing to volunteer yourself to it, but to be hit with it unwillingly doesn’t feel fun or nice, especially when you can feel the way it’s changing your usual breathing.

And it’s almost never enough to just open a window or turn on a fan.
