Longing what I call "intentional friction" As technology increasingly optimizes for convenience... i almost find myself resenting instant gratification. The more my life becomes frictionless and algo-driven, the more I actually crave purposeful effort. Feels as tho I'm not alone and there's a countertrend forming - the deliberate embrace of "intentional friction"...this rejection of algorithmic efficiency in favor of experiences and recommendations that require effort, patience and human-to-human coordination. + disposable cameras / digi cam > phone cameras + dumb phones > smart phones + curated recs (letterboxd, goodreads, etc.) > AI suggestions + vinyl > streaming + "slow living" philosophies and digital detoxes

i actually think blockchain plays a role here too. Minting something - with a small cost - can become that point of friction

yeah i think weโ€™re heading towards this too but only when itโ€™s paired with humanity thereโ€™s a lot of intentional friction thatโ€™s gimmicky or trendy but becomes annoying or itโ€™s just a trend that doesnโ€™t stick

I agree, I love shooting film > digital. Simply because itโ€™s just more fun
