Martin Goodman (1908-1992) founded Marvel Comics, launching it in 1939 as Timely Publications. He introduced iconic characters like Spider-Man and the X-Men with creators such as Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Goodman sold Marvel in 1968 but left a lasting legacy in the comic book industry.
