Every time I see a new apartment being built, I swear they just raided Home Depot for 2x4s and plywood. I built better forts as a child. 

I once moved into a brand new 300+ unit apartment building (first resident of my unit) and when they make you document damage/mistakes— I sent a 70-item list of blemishes and other errors with photographs.

I kinda think that's the case too, considering how warped some of that shit is. When I was in art school, I always had to be extremely careful when going to a regular hardware store for wood for my projects(my side hustle was making artist panels to pay for food while my classmates got to make cool shit with unlimited budgets and scholarships they didn't need because they had $40k in their checking accounts from daddy).
