Kandawgyi Lake (ကန်တော်ကြီး), meaning "Great Royal Lake" is one of Yangon's two major lakes. Located east of the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda, this artificial lake was originally constructed during the British colonial era to supply clean water to the city. Water is channeled from Inya Lake through a network of pipes to maintain its levels.

Kandawgyi Lake is not only a functional reservoir but also a scenic attraction. Its picturesque surroundings, including lush greenery and the famous Karaweik Palace, make it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.
