Manuha Temple (မနူဟာဘုရား) is a historic Buddhist temple located in Myinkaba, near Bagan, Myanmar. It was built in 1067 by the captive Mon King Manuha, according to inscriptions he left behind. The temple is one of the oldest in Bagan and reflects the Mon architectural influence. King Manuha, the last ruler of Thaton, was captured by King Anawrahta of Bagan in 1057 when the latter conquered the Mon Kingdom. As a prisoner in Bagan, Manuha requested permission to build a temple, which he designed to symbolize his feelings of captivity and suffering. The temple’s structure and the positioning of the Buddha images reflect this sentiment. #Myanmar #Burma #ManuhaTemple #Bagan
