I'm not a huge sports fan in any regard, I just thought this was interesting because it isn't transparent when you read articles about this Lakers acquisition.

yeah, I don’t really watch sports either. I didn’t know about this until you shared it. People just seem excited that a billionaire bought the Lakers and don’t even care to look into it.

$10 billion is a record, but the only reason it is going through TWG is that sovereign wealth funds cannot own majority share in NBA team.

I love when there is a financial rule like that in place, then someone clearly and openly sidesteps it by one deviation, and everyone’s like, “seems legit to me!”

There like, “noooo, it’s not owned by a sovereign wealth fund. That would be illegal! It’s owned by someone who is owned by a sovereign wealth fund.”
