this is why people still choose to be homemakers. even if they want to work, keeping their job and paying for childcare can result in them losing money, rather than becoming a stay at home parent while the other parent works more hours. this still often results in the household making less money overall, dropping from two incomes to one, even if they are saving on childcare, not to mention the additional costs that come with having a child.
