If you’re an American, you should simply not go there—there’s no reason to. It’s not as people advertise that there are no downsides. It’s literately the worst thing you could do as an 18-year-old.

I dislike how the best scholarships are contingent on *immediately* going to college after high school. It makes the punishment for taking a gap year severe because American Uni is so expensive. FWIW I enjoyed my time at Uni, but I went to a cheap state college and paid it all off while enrolled. College still matters.
