Another case for reclaiming car-centric space! This is outdoor dining at Mắm, a (delicious) Vietnamese spot in the Lower East Side, where more than 15 people (and more not pictured) are sitting, chatting, and sharing food — all in the space of just two parking spots. And yet, there are still vocal advocates who argue for preserving parking at community engagement meetings. If we want to maximize urban life, we have to be willing to give up space for cars.

montreal does this really well during the summer! most of the streets that a lot of restaurants or bars are on are closed for a good portion of the summer and most places put out terrasses in the former parking spots :)

yess it really is! and this was all part of the city pre-pandemic, it's been a thing to shut down streets to cars for a long time you have a place to stay if you ever want to visit, i live right next to the big park/mountain :))
