cities w/ higher fractal dimension tend to be denser, more complex, more varied (like tokyo, istanbul, florence) lower fractal dimension = simpler, uniform layouts (like Brasília or suburban sprawl) people usually cities with high fractal dimension more calm and engaging. this looks like a well-layered urban block with variation in texture, scale, and pathways feel more human) https://www.mdpi.com/2073-445X/11/4/475#:~:text=Urban%20areas%20with%20higher%20fractal,some%20authors%20as%20more%20urbanized.

people usually find cities with high fractal dimension more calm and engaging seems surprising to me. Aren't these places generally more intense, dirty, and expensive?

Chandigarh (planned by corbusier) is this uniform or fractal? we do have some suburban sprawl but parks and human pathways in the city too

I wonder if this principle is actually applied in new district planning. While mixed-use, block-based development has become standard, I can't say the same for complex urban layouts.
