Tbh I wish I practiced it more, but I find the trick of βimagining yourself on a deathbedβ and picturing what type of life you lived to be best for culminating a true sense of gratitude for the moment and people around you.

I write/run, and the raging voice in mi head stops There is a lot of coffee, cigs and sometimes alcohol in between But it stops

For me what works is looking at the meta picture. Whenever I want to calm my mind, I remind myself of my place on this earth (read evolution); or in universe.

There is so much to be grateful for instead of taking things for granted. Just waking up is something not everyone is blessed with. I try to look at the world this way. I also take a cold shower and meditate in the morning to help me with the right mood.
