How much does it cost the US to forcibly deport someone? Could they just pay that as an incentive for people to self deport, or does that create a perverse incentive (sneak in, collect payment on exit)?

Many of the people being forcibly deported now have family, including kids, that are US citizens that wouldn't be welcome or safe in their country of origin. Those people aren't going to self deport. Migrants in the US (for the most part) aren't here just for fun. They were often well educated professionals in a country being torn apart by political violence, and they risked everything to start over somewhere safe for their family.

International laws atriums asylum seeking should definitely be respected. Also, this is a more complete expression of my position: https://farcaster.xyz/maurelian.eth/0x9ab4eda7
