quality aside (and there's a lot of reasons to prefer for quality alone) is the ux. you probably only buy favorites, you rummage in a junk drawer on streamers. touring a curated collection, fitted to your tastes, is delightful. it's the difference between looking at a bookshelf in your home and at a bookstore.

completely agree, the analysis paralysis of streaming can be pretty tiresome. underrated advantage of a library of discs.

a few months ago our internet went out and so I rummaged around our blu-ray holdovers for something to watch, literally every case was a delightful surprise. idk man, convenience of streaming is often outweighted by the sheer weight of shit you gotta rummage through to find something decent. HBO Max shows "My 1,000 Pound Life" next to "the Sopranos"
