Imagine if there was a Canada-US exchange program where citizens could swap nationalities as long as there’s someone going the other direction. I think there’s plenty on both sides who would take the offer.

the problem is that Canadian mid/high earners will move to the U.S. and U.S. mid/low earners will move to Canada, such that the Canadian system will no longer work whereas the U.S. will be fine.

haha yeah, but how to ensure a proportionate exchange of equivalent citizens without bluntly revealing that canada’s entire system of benefits (health or otherwise) is being paid for by a small % of citizens that it can’t afford to lose 😅

No I agree. What I’d see is like the arrangement with the EU. Free border crossing, work between the agreeing parties, free trade like we have now with NAFTA/USMCA. I suspect Mexico will be ousted from that agreement and the US and Canada will form a cozy agreement where they retain sovereignty but provide every other benefit to each other. Then Canada and the US will each form what are essentially unilateral agreements with Mexico where they starve Mexico of value and eventually Mexico will join BRICs making it even stronger and further guaranteeing the US becomes the fallen hegemon of the new world order. That’s just my opinion.

Btw I have a deep love for Canada that’s why I’m so violently opposed to the current administration.

I just mean that Canada’s socialist healthcare and other services will collapse if all the taxpayers making $80k+ leave, which would be very likely if they were offered an easy path to US citizenship 😂
