hot take, but maybe before we try to "onboard a billion people", we should focus on making crypto a culture people actually want to be a part of. that's the thing that will attract more people to want to use the products and primitives.

I want to agree but what does this look like in practice? As crypto scales, it becomes more and more like regular money. Which gives people freedom to push whatever culture they want. (some will be very bad).

the sooner people do away with the idea of trying to force crypto “culture” down people’s throats and just focus on building great products that people love and that solve real pain points the better. The ideology and philosophy of crypto should be expressed through the products themselves, not this weird cult we call “the space”

I think the only way is for the most influential people to cut the over positivity and start calling out bs. No one else can call it out until that happens because it will just result in being alienated

crypto culture is so toxic I think the actual onboarding will happen mostly behind the scenes - as underlying tech, payment rails, etc - not by rehabilitating the “culture” into something that people actually want to participate it it will just kind of happen
