should white people be allowed to play jazz?

If they honor and respect the genre and history behind it I don’t see why not? First time thinking about it

it feels similar and also not actually a total rule but the vibe is weird to me sometimes

i feel like the nerdiest black people are still way cooler than the coolest white people and that might be my issue. let white people have smooth jazz but anything at all cool might be crossing the line. they just can pull it off 🤣

white people rapping feels much worse, not sure exactly why but a thought is that if we are talking about this era lots of rapping is clout therefore surface based, whereas for jazz you have to be a real nerd who loves jazz to play? my perception so far
