Persistence Backyard Ultra 2026 was my 4th BYU. Since this was my 3rd year at this event, I knew what to expect: great organization, good people, countless pond loops, and the field of dreams. New this year: torrential rain! But after 27 hours at Sulphur Springs Trail Race in May, that kinda rain just seems normal — and no mud at PBYU, so no problem! I completed 34 yards (hours) for 233km (144 miles) including part of loop 35. This is equivalent to 5.5 marathons in a day and a half! I was the 4th last one standing out of 66 which is a DNF according to the rules!
