One month into the new job

At first, I didn’t know what I didn’t know. But quickly things started to come into sight, if not into focus.

Each day is a venture into the jungle. Sometimes it’s a safari, learning from a safe but exciting distance with a guide. Other days require a machete to hack my way through new territory.

It’s exhausting even when I’m not doing much. Immersion keeps the brain alert all day. I’m mainly just trying to stay afloat right now, but energy management strategies will be key. So much of this is new: my title and responsibilities, the size and stage of the company, the lifestyle change from freelancing to full-time work.

I wanted novelty and a challenge. And I’m getting what I asked for.
