Housing prices are such a conundrum. They are the only thing that people want to simultaneously be cheap and always increasing in value at the same time. 😂

And letting corporations buy them by the thousands (at least in the US) was a HUGE mistake. Blackrock shouldn't own entire neighborhoods all over the country!

My little brother bought his first house in a neighborhood owned by this big corporation. He paid like 410k in 2022. But I guess he didn’t realize that the corporation sets the price for the houses in the neighborhood and they lowered it to like 350k recently. So now his house is basically worth less and there isn’t shit he can do lol. He’s selling and getting out asap before they lower them again. Such a shitty deal

I should clarify - they set the price for new houses they build in the neighborhood - effectively setting his as well.

Yeah, that's another terrible aspect of it. They can just dump on the market and it crashes for everyone else also. I still can't believe it's legal for business entities to own tens of thousands of homes. Well, I guess I can given where we're at right now, but it still sucks. So many people get hurt so a few executives can get that third vacation home or private jet upgrade.
