On this day in 1953, after numerous failed attempts by others, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers to climb to the summit of Mount Everest. At 29,032 feet tall, it is the highest mountain the world. Unsurprisingly, it has become commodified and is now a hotspot for Instagram selfies.

I was about to go till the base camp.. the year there was an earthquake. Was probably 2014 or 2015.. didnt go, because i had an interview to attend. Lot of my friends and association members went, one of them never got to return home. It gives me chills thinking, sad. Everest is a wonder but also a grave

it's really cool, yes, I'm sure now the climb there has been made as easy as possible, but it's still cool

I love the mountains, but not much interests me less. K2 way more interesting to me, but not enough to even think about ascending.

Until now no one knows who reached the top first. It's more convenient to climb now and cheaper I guess.
