Was there such a tradition in your countries? It was especially popular to beat out carpets in winter.

Yes! In those days there were hardly any vacuum cleaners, plus people thought it made the carpets look fresh π...everyone did it. And do you know the Soviet love of hanging carpets on the walls ? I used to laugh about it when I still see carpets on the walls in old apartments and when I was cold in Germany I thought it was a good idea to insulate the walls with carpets πππ

Interesting! I have seen tapestries hung before, but not βwall to wallβ π This reminds me of my traditional polish outfit my mom loved dressing me up in for βFaschingβ, while other were princesses and Minny Mouse πNoone knew who or what I was meant to represent.

I think such ornaments and drawings have a special meaning - they probably protect the Slavs from the evil eye.. Oh, and when I was in first school class and all the boys at the New Year's ball were Musketeers, and the girls were snowflakes, and only one boy was in a ninja turtles costume. He looked wild and out of place. It's like being an American among Slavs. That's why I really like your costume. I think you really stood out.π
