We kicked off summer with a full-body souvenir from nature—some lovely poison ivy. I couldn’t relax until I played detective and found the leafy little menace lurking on our favorite trail.

Moral of the story: nature bites… so keep your eyes peeled on those walks. 🌿😬

I figured. I am surprised that we never got it, even so I am very outdoorsy. I almost wonder if this issue became worse. Often, when ecology is in trouble and the symbiotic relationship in nature is disturbed, certain species take over. But before we blame Poison Ivy, when one digs deeper there is always some explanation how its this exact specie that restores the soil etc...Its never random. 

I will read about Poison Ivy more, am curious now

Yes, it’s everywhere. On trails in public parks, greenbelts etc, even in green area in neighborhood playgrounds, which is my biggest nightmare, because the kids love going through the brush and not on marked trails - and even on those they can flank the trails.

😳😳😳 I don't even know what poison ivy looks like, but probably should. I must say, the only time i see anyone (thought  the years) posting about this, they are all based in Austin. Do they grow in higher concentration there, or what is the reason?

Only my husband and son were effected, and they are back to normal thank goodness! This happened back in May 😅.

It’s really the one thing I am always trying to avoid when out and about, and so far I was able to manage ~ but not the rest of my family. It gets really gross too, the pustules become filled with yellow liquid that then slowly crusts and falls off😱😫

It really takes one of the top spots in worst nature souvenirs !

😂 Exactly 😬😆 I can laugh now, but I was a wreck when the rash developed on my husband and son…You can be sure I’ll be keeping my eyes 👀 peeled out there in the “wild”!

Ouch! Hope it heals quickly and with little pain!

It’s truly powerful! Just a tiny bit can cause a crazy reaction that would last for weeks ~ my son had to go on Prednisone as he had it all over his body including eyelids 😱

Yikes! I was petrified to also “catch” the oil from clothing/shoes so I washed everything twice 😅

It’s the worst if I barely touch it it goes straight to my blood stream and I have to take steroids

Thankfully that happened at the start of summer ~ boys are all healed by now, but I couldn’t rest not knowing where it came from!
