cheaper housing would help solve a lot of problems: - more people would start families (more babies instead of cats/dogs) - less loneliness - improved mental/physical health - reduce homelessness etc etc all of these problems seem to be getting worse and they are all downstream of housing being expensive (even the case for really smart software engineers). not saying this is the only thing but definitely seems like a good one to focus on.

besides environmental, construction, and estate reform... I think there's a question of optimal density, and there should be steady growth of new cities with SOTA civil engineering. it should be trivial to relocate to somewhere equally or more logistically accessible. besides, I think land value tax with a subsistent/habitat credit would be a good forcing function for cheaper housing.
