Stories unite us -- they give us shared narratives that make reality and its infinite mysteries coherent So what happens when AI gives everyone on-demand stories uniquely tailored to them? We lose the last shared fabric. Then we will reinvent bards / storytellers once again (but not before a period of great incoherence)

imho, we have group instinct to pursue large prizes, and multiplayer AI is likelier to thrive than a single-body prosthetic. there definitely will be on-demand "blurbs", but there may remain an opportunity for AI to tailor a larger local narrative that can snowball past a historic threshold. then again, we always seem to find some common threat to unify us after tolerating the preceding concentration of adversarial pressure. idk how this is going to resolve, but I think the audience you described is worse off, and closer to a future saturated with psychotic breaks.
