Learning Crypto with /sense What’s an Initial Coin Offering (ICO)? An Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is when a crypto project sells new coins or tokens to raise money, kind of like a fundraiser or a digital bake sale. People give real money or crypto (like Bitcoin or Ethereum) In return, they get the new project’s tokens Those tokens might be used in the app later, or go up in value if the project becomes popular. Real-life comparison: In the stock market, when a company first sells shares to the public, it’s called an IPO (Initial Public Offering) In crypto, when a new project sells coins for the first time, it’s called an ICO Why do people invest in ICOs? They believe the project could be big in the future They want to use the token in the app or system They hope the token’s value will go up so they can sell it later ⚠️ But be careful. 🚨Some projects or teams will raise money and disappear ! There’s no guarantee that the token will be worth anything in the future.
