i’ve been a lasik hater for years. cutting into the cornea and expecting it to heal like nothing happened? corneal flaps never fully reconnect at the molecular level… that’s not healing, that’s patchwork. did a deep dive around manhattan -interviewed eye docs, read studies- and what i found was wild. most clinics have entire systems in place just to manage patient complaints. it’s honestly shocking how little research most people do. just because something’s common doesn’t mean it’s safe - or smart.

one of the first things i did after making it in crypto was get lasik for my dad he doesn’t need to wear his glasses anymore to see — something he hasn’t experienced since a child i think the bigger issue is how fast the effects of the surgery degrade and the fact that its recommended to do the surgery again 15-20 years later but at that point just probably isn’t worth it anymore and genuinely harmful as someone with bad eyesight and who rarely uses their glasses, I probably won’t get lasik until I’m at least 40 if at all https://x.com/lucianodeangeio/status/1419778833499234305?s=46&t=JHqh2CF9dbvuJa4_0sq7fg
