Couldn't agree more, Trish. And other than trying to shine a light on some of what's happening, I feel so completely demoralized by the international response. Seems like the bystander effect writ large. Or, more charitably, that the countries that recognize and condemn the genocide just don't have the juice needed to go up against its authors and sponsors.

I’m at a loss for words. The cruelty we’re inflicting is beyond the pale.

While I think that's generally true, the more glaring issue of late seems to be that the international rules-based order that was supposed to prevent new genocides has completely failed, largely because it is applied so unevenly, with nations like the U.S. often flouting rules  and insisting on exemptions, for their own benefit.
