Why does a great blockchain-based MMO not exist yet?

my hunch is that "blockchain gaming" is always getting confounded with realmoney economy (which implies p2w) and i don't think anyone's nailed this formula yet. since MMO are some of the biggest/hardest/most-complex game worlds to build, they are among the toughest to do "greatly". personally id rather see lots more non-realmoney-economy in more blockchain games - this will lead to more great blockchain games, and MMO will follow

MMOs take 10s of millions of dollars and like 5 years to build. In the meantime, check out marketwars.com which is a Web3 private WoW server that just went into Open Beta :)
