Across the Capitol: The House could bring up its own Democrat-led war powers resolution after July 4. Republican Rep. Thomas Massie, who has faced heavy backlash from the administration for criticizing the strikes on Iran, had also introduced a war powers resolution as well, but ultimately decided not to bring it up amid a ceasefire in the Iran-Israel conflict. House Speaker Mike Johnson has sharply criticized members for demanding Trump receive congressional approval for strikes on Iran, adding that he doesn’t believe the War Powers Act is constitutional.

US officials believe Isfahan’s underground structures house nearly 60% of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, which Iran would need in order to ever produce a nuclear weapon. US B2 bombers dropped over a dozen bunker-buster bombs on Iran’s Fordow and Natanz nuclear sites. But Isfahan was only struck by Tomahawk missiles launched from a US submarine.

What happened in the later incidents? On Monday, three people were killed while waiting for food near SDS 1, according to the ICRC. The Israeli military said "warning shots were fired toward several suspects who advanced toward" troops approximately 1km from the site. The Gaza health ministry said at least 27 people were then killed when Israeli forces opened fire near SDS 1 early on Tuesday.

My 2 cents on the Iran and Israel conundrum : Let’s be honest , this wasn’t just a “flare up.” This was decades of shadow war bursting into the open. In April 2024, Israel bombed Iran’s consulate in Syria, killing IRGC commanders. That’s not just a provocation. Iran responded with an unprecedented direct attack on Israel: 300+ drones and missiles. It was a show of strength. This wasn’t about Gaza alone. This is about regional power, influence, and years of warfare. And no peace deal is fixing this overnight in my opinion.
