Got a full body MRI scan today for the first time and wasn't sure what to expect. It was crazy loud (even through earplugs and headphones over them with music playing) and had lots of vibrations the entire time. No claustrophobia luckily

do they tell u what u might find out and what treatment options are available if something is spotted? do they tell you if there are any possible safety events that can result from the scan?

I had to do 2 of them so far in my life. Both because of my getting tboned by a semi truck in 2017 my car was totaled. Still dealing with residual pains at times. But years later I pulled my shoulder and found out my ACL is fawked. Been working for years to build up muscles around it. At least it was totally worth it to find that out.

Yea MRIs are so crazy. Been 3 times for separate injuries. Reminds me of dial up internet sounds resonating through my body lol. What is the goal of this though?

my dad told me it sounds like every noise you’ve ever heard and then described the noises. I had to do two and once I got in there it was a struggle to stay still and not giggle bc I could hear exactly what he described.

I got my scans as videos so I have wild 3D (I think they even called it 4D) views of all my systems. Mine was when I broke a leg, ribs and collapsed lung, so we knew what we were looking at. But the view is insane. One of the coolest things ever.

Ugh, I understand you perfectly! The first time I had a brain MRI for migraines it was a horrible experience. Between the deafening and constant noise, and the vibrations, I left there with a migraine even worse than the one that led me to do the study. As much as I tried to relax, there was no way to ignore that constant hammering. Definitely, it is not something I would like to repeat, although I understand that it is necessary. 😵‍💫

Had an MRI today too for my knee. I seriously fell asleep. I find the noise somehow soothing. But my head was out of the machine, maybe that’s why.

Crazy how loud those machines are, right? I remember feeling like I was stuck in some futuristic tunnel with a drumline going off around me. It was oddly calming at times, though. Did you notice any physical sensations—like heat or muscle twitches—when the patterns changed?
