I don't think it's appreciated how quickly we're switching from the paradigm of users paying for gas to application developers covering 100% of gas costs for users.

I’m surprised this isn’t the norm on Solana at this point

Not paying gas is less friction for the user but prone to bots. During the last bullrun every relevant drop botted, bots even participated in gas wars. This is solvable by agreeing on a proof of humanity solution though. Another issue is people spending the entire gas-money pool in a single tx when network is clogged.

Sentiment is super positive for this on fc...why? 1) How is this a move forwards and not a move backwards towards centralized web2 services? 2) what will stop the application developers from becoming extractive Middle men whose interests don't align with those of the users?

this. it's so massive, this opportunity. paves the way for a new cohort of users, at a nominal cost to dapps (or even from protocol grants/rebates) SO COOL RIGHT?! did you see this post from @thirdweb and @optimism? https://warpcast.com/thirdweb/0xd9ef47aa 1069 $degen

Fixed costs models are superior to pay per use and are always introduced when a technological advancement becomes well established, we have seen it on internet usage, cell phone plans, saas subscriptions, and now creeping to web3. Advantages are price stability and a lower average fee

Newcoiners will be expecting a web2 experience Would cause a lot of friction to introducing them to using gass and since we plan on abstracting that fee away, might aswell give design it like that from the getgo
