The way my 6yo so easily and casually says “Hey Siri” and proceeds to tell it what to do, really tells me where we’re headed.

Things she ask for:

- open X app
- search for Y
- what is _____

She just went from;

1. I want to build a kids playhouse
2. Asked Siri about building houses (response was limited)
3. Went to ChatGPT asked same question (provided references)
4. Went to Amazon searched for products (not what she wanted)
5. I opened Pinterest (she found inspo)
6. Sent image to “Squishy” (chatGPT), asked how to build it
7. ChatGPT gave homework on how a 6yo can learn how to build the playhouse, kid did the work

Etc.

The trend of spoken natural language being the medium which most our digital interaction moves to is very clear.

I think this largely due to our behavior of first adopting text on phones so our brains are wired to more easily use our fingers to manage a phone. 

But kids are intimidated having to spell out everything out and learn how to vocalize words before writing them. 

So vocal interaction is so much smoother and makes so much sense. 

Ive also moticed a huge confidence boost in kids ability to speak up and ask questions since chatting with chatting with chatgpt voice mode

this is illuminating. 

the only thing I use voice for is setting reminders and alarms and asking Alexa to pause music
