For example, farcaster was flooded with low quality content, the team rushed into optimizing for higher quality, in turn produced internal and external innovation. 

Flooding a market with competition accelerates innovation doesn't slow it down.

I see your point, but I still think there’s a risk of a flooded market with low quality apps making it harder for users to find reliable ones. While the free market does filter out poor solutions, the initial clutter might slow down innovation or make it harder for high quality apps to stand out
