In order to win, you have to be WILLING to not be liked. 
Not: If you want to win, people won’t like you. 

So you can still have both based on this.

I guess I disagree with the mindset. Obviously not everyone is gonna like you, and you have to be ok with upsetting some people.

That said, there's no reason to adopt what pmarca is saying a some sort of guiding principle or even something you have to actively think about.
