Will MetaMask Drop a Token? Nothing's Confirmed Yet 👀

Talks of a MetaMask token are still in limbo. In an interview with The Block, co-founder Dan Finlay clarified that no final decision has been made. “It could happen — or not,” he said, keeping the community guessing.

MetaMask’s parent company, Consensys, has expressed interest in pushing for decentralization across its suite of products via token launches. The idea of a $MASK token has been circulating since 2021, but legal hurdles and concerns around potential scams have made the team proceed with caution.

Even so, MetaMask remains the most popular Ethereum wallet, boasting around 30 million monthly active users, though it now faces stiff competition from fast-growing wallets like Rainbow and Rabby.
