I think Sam’s point is that technical advancements have outperformed government subsidies significantly throughout history.

Accelerating nuclear, AI, etc will do much more for the average person’s quality of life than government run gorcery stores, rent freezes, etc.

i think when a demsoc politician says "no more billionaires" they typically don't mean "hang them" as much as "stop rampant inequality that deprives the workers of quality of life" (but guillotines are fun to meme about)

so when i see zohran the destroyer call for no-more-billionaires, what i see is his plans to make housing and groceries more affordable (at landlord/grocery-empire expense) and thereby increasing access to the "stuff billionaires have" (affordable housing, food) and drive the average person's quality of life up - basically what you are saying you wanna see imho
