I did really like that it wasn't clear what the main idea was until halfway thru, the build up was nice. I just wanted more plot I think. The tommy/kathy love story could have gone on longer imo. What is your fave book of his!?

I liked this book a lot but it wasn’t my fave of his!! The suspense from all the world oddities in the beginning paired great with his slow style. the end was heartbreaking because id grown attached to the characters, and especially the relationship between kathy and tommy. Very “glad to be alive” book for me

Oh interesting. Yeah. His books lean heavily on style and theme over plot, and a lot of the story is just brushed lightly. It’s been a few years since I read this one but I’ve read it twice so I have to assume it’s one of my favorites.

i loved the prose! it was beautifully written and enjoyable to read, but the story was not built out enough for me, maybe i wanted it to be longer!

Love everything Ishiguro but I can see it’s not everyone’s cup of joe.
